課程概述

This course is designed to prepare master –level students having a basic knowledge and skills to develop nursing research. Major concepts, knowledge and skills in research development, methodology and operation would be covered in the class. A systemic approach to research development would be approached by step by step research process. The concepts of link research to evidenced-based practice and its clinical application in nursing are also discussed in this class. Basic principles of paper critique would be discussed for helping students to better evaluate a research paper. 

課程目標
After the class, students are expected to be able to understand:
1. connections among nursing research, practice and theory.
2. conceptualization of research ideas and questions from theory and practice.
3. different types of research design.
4. differences and similarities of quantitative and qualitative research.
5. basic principles to select an appropriate research instrument.
6. basic statistics to analyze research data.
7.ethical issues in developing and conducting nursing research.
8.basic skills and knowledge to evaluate a research paper.
9.completion of a preliminary research proposal for thesis
